Swanton's

No trip down Pacific Coast Highway is complete without a stop at Swanton Berry Farm. Everything is self-service here, which I love. You get your cup, taste the strawberry apple cider, fill your coffee, pay on your honor, sample different strawberry jams, poke around taking photos, play some backgammon, stroll the grounds, pick sunflowers, all on your own... under the least "watchful" eyes of a few hippy girls who live in an Airstream and who really aren't paying you any attention at all. It's like a shop that was opened and then abandoned. It's fun

On our road trip to Monterey we bought tickets to the whale show. Just kidding, we bought tickets to the PACIFIC OCEAN because this is no show. These are real killer and humpback whales, in REAL life, doing their thing. If you have time go see them now. They'll be back again with their babies in March. We saw a whole family of killer whales and it was so unusual that the captain radio'd for local marine biologists to come out and study them. So cool. The rest of the trip we kept our eyes trained on the horizon and even from the sand, once in a while, we could see a big spray far out, from a whale.

Pigeon Point Lighthouse

Labor Day road trip for me and T! We went south. First stop Pigeon Point, which is beautiful and only about an hour away. I love that there's basically a four color limit to the palette. And I'm not kidding when I say it's prescription pill commercial heaven. There's an ad running right now of an older lady taking photos around the lighthouse as someone reads off side effects. ;-) This is also where we met Tocco's newest buddy. If you've never been to the lighthouse, you should definitely stop there. It's easy to get there from SF, and so simple and peaceful. 

Road Trip!

We're hitting the Pacific Coast Highway today for a road trip along the coast. I'm so excited! Will we make it all the way to Santa Barbara or be lured to a stop by one of the towns or beaches along the way? Who knows! Have a great long weekend and see you Tuesday :)
